The Path of the Extraordinary Yogi*
Yoga is meant to radically evolve us -- taking us from ordinary to extraordinary in a single lifetime. But after years of practicing on the mat, we still struggle. We still fight with our lovers, families and friends. We still believe that the next new relationship, the next new job or exotic vacation will be the one to truly make us happy. Why – after years of practice – do we still feel like we’re treading water? What’s missing?
Until we learn the revolutionary inner method of love, we will never experience the profound transformation Yoga can offer us -- deep, lasting happiness and freedom from our afflictions and pain.
Join Lindsay Sullivan and special guest teacher, Kristen McKee, for the second annual Down Dog of Love this February. We’ll explore what ancient yogis and modern philosophers have to say about turning your ordinary 'samsaric' world in the extraordinary ‘nirvana’ it was meant to be. Using yoga-asana, meditation and interactive discussion, we'll dive deep into our bodies, minds and hearts to uncover our limitless potential for L.O.V.E.
*this brand new workshop is suitable for those who attended last year and those who did not.
Vedic Chanting is the ancient art of transmitting the Vedas orally, in a strictly prescribed way. This practice hones your listening skills tremendously, improves memory, works to extend the breath fully, and can lead to a deep meditative state.
We will study the Six Main Rules of Vedic Chanting, including going over the Sanskrit Alphabet. We will learn Ayur Mantra from the Taittiriya Aranyaka. This chant is an invocation for Health and Nourishment. We will also learn the Gayatri Mantra, from the Rg Veda, the oldest of the Vedas. This chant praises the Sun and ask for being granted Mental Clarity.
In addition, we will begin Yoga Sutra Recitation of the first chapter, including word by word translation. Yoga Sutra study is a 'must' for any serious yoga student and yoga teacher.
This course is open to beginners and experienced chanters alike.
